04 January 2021 — One hundred and seventy-two (172) new COVID-19 cases were identified out of 2251 samples tested today. This brings the cumulative number of confirmed cases eight thousand, eight hundred and forty-eight (8848). To date, six thousand, eight hundred, and sixteen (6816) patients have recovered, including a sixty-four (64) in the past 24 hours. The number of active cases is one thousand, nine hundred, and twenty-seven (1927) and one hundred and five (105) deaths. The 4 new deaths are 3 male, respectively of 82, 73 and 43, and one female of 68 years old in Kigali.

The new cases are in Kigali (146), Rubavu (7), Kayonza (6), Rusizi (3),  Nyamasheke (2), Nyamagabe (2),  Huye (1), Muhanga (1), Ruhango (1), Gisagara (1), Bugesera (1), Musanze (20), and Kirehe (1); heightened vigilance is required everywhere. 

The COVID-19 prevention measures announced by the Government of Rwanda must continue to be rigorously observed, especially frequent hand-washing and physical distancing. In addition, face masks must be worn in public and multi-family compounds.
Withholding information related to contact tracing or COVID-19 symptoms, jeopardises public safety and will be punished in accordance with applicable laws.
